More than just food: cultural holidays for connoisseurs

As an Italian region, of course South Tyrol is a land of culinary pleasures, but it also boasts an incredibly rich cultural heritage that stretches far beyond our undeniable love of food. We know that, as active holidaymakers and adventurers, you’ll probably want to explore the options yourselves… so we won’t reveal everything just now. However, we’ll offer a short overview of what our cultural landscape has to offer!

Sehenswürdigkeiten im Pustertal

Special sights

The Christmas markets in the Pustertal valley offer the perfect blend of tradition and culinary indulgence. The impressive earth pyramids in Percha are a natural spectacle you don’t want to miss, and if history is your cup of tea, we recommend a visit to the military cemetery in Bruneck

Kulinarik Dolomiten

Eating & Drinking

Starred restaurants and chefs, street food and home-style cooking, with an added local twist of quaint Alpine huts, sunny terraces, autumnal Törggelen meals, creative aperitifs and wine tastings. Add to this “the best from every world”, with everything from burgers to sushi and game specialities, and you get a pretty good idea of the variety you can expect to be served when you sit at a table in the Pustertal valley

Sehenswerters in Bruneck

Culture vultures can have their pick of the numerous castles, churches and museums (with themes ranging from mountains to agriculture and from tourism to folklore). On Mt. Kronplatz alone there are two museums: the Lumen Photography Museum and one of the six Messner Mountain Museums, housed in a magnificent building designed by Zaha Hadid. Villabassa may be a small village, but it has its own gems to offer, like the small tourism museum and several mentions of Emma Hellenstainer, one of the village’s most prominent citizens and a pioneer of tourism in South Tyrol
